Class Ten Censorship
ReadingsOne of the most contested areas of aesthetics is the border domain between art and ethics. We are going to discuss censorship, but this short reading introduces certain aesthetically-derived categories with regard to artworks that might be seen as exemplifying defective moral attitudes.
The feminine is perceived as weak and foolish. Is the artwork drawing attention to an impoverished view of the current status of women and the social structure that assigns for them their current role (in order to criticise)?
